Drainage, ducting, high spec paving and car park construction
A 6-million-pounds renovation and extension of the William Wordsworth Exhibition Centre located at Grasmere, Lake District. Our client and Principal Contractor completed a two-story remolding and renovation of the existing museum into a state-of-the-art interactive facility to showcase the life and works of one of Britain’s most famous and loved poets. Works included all new external works and remodeling, with high specification paving and concrete paving installation, dry stone walling soft landscaping for car park installation.
Our scope of works comprised of:
• Excavation works
• Surface and foul water drainage installation.
• Communication and electrical ducting.
• High specification paving installation.
• PAV2 concrete pavement installation.
• Birco channel drainage installation
• Soft landscaping.
During our first visit, we completed the garden upgrade works to Dove Cottage, Wordsworth’s home. Our second phase of works completed the learning center external, drainage and new car park installation. Our final phase was a 20-week phase to undertake new external drainage, ducting installation, high specification granite paving installation and concrete paving installation to the new museum and surrounding areas. We also installed a lego block retaining wall system to support the existing banking adjacent to a new public viewing area.
Delivery to programme and budget and works phasing
The programme was in flux during the winter months. With adverse weather affecting progress. The overall budget was achieved to the satisfaction of the client.
Resourcing with a local supply chain
95% of the value of the labour element was delivered with local labour within 15 miles of the development.
