Project scale and detail of works undertaken.

Following the award of this school extension to our client F Parkinson via the wigan school’s framework agreement, Parkinson employed our services to undertake the external car park extension phase of the project.

The project consisted in the extension to an existing primary school located in wigan. We were on site for 6 weeks, to deliver a £98,000.00 package under a bespoke subcontract.

Our scope of works comprised:

  • Site strip and reduced excavation works.
  • Surface water drainage installation.
  • Communication and electrical ducting.
  • Kerbing installation.
  • Sub-base installation.
  • Tarmac surfacing.
  • Road Markings

Work took place in the summer school holidays in attempt to reduce disruption to the pupils and staff studying and working at the school.

Delivery to programme and budget and works phasing.

Our 6-week contract period was key due to the restrictions imposed by the summer holiday period. Following initial weather delays during the earthwork segment of our programme, we managed to accelerate to complete works on time. The original budget was in the main achieved with the exception of a view minor variations.

Resourcing with a local supply chain

The works employed our direct labour with specialist subcontractors engaged for the road marking element of the works.
